Halloween!

We did so many fun things for Halloween this year. We made it to Gardner Village to see the witches, Hee-Haw farms, pumpkin patch (At the Mabey's), Riverton HAlloween party, cookies at grandma's, Daddy's school, and finally trick or treating. The only bed side was jade was a little sick on Halloween day, so after one street of TOT she took off her costume and said she was done and wanted to go home. She also said she was sick and couldn't eat candy and honestly didn't have any. Wow!!!! Hopefully she gets better quickly as we have a fun filled birthday weekend coming up. Having kids definately makes Holiday's so much more fun for me!

Cleaning and Scrubbing....

I know, I know, it's been another week with no update. Where does the time go? My days go by so quickly, it's crazy! It's all I can do to keep up with everything-and sometimes I don't. What I find amazing is how I can do my weekly cleaning on Friday and by Friday night/Saturday morning I am cleaning again. I love a clean house but can't ever keep it that way anymore. I realize part of that is having a 3 year old who likes to entertain herself.

Here is a pic of her with her stroller (poor Jax got sucked into this pretend play too)and on this day she was grocery shopping. What is behind her is a reason why I feel I am constantly cleaning. On this day she got out ALL of her stuffed animals and brought them downstairs, set them up on the couch and had them all watching t.v. At one point I heard her say (while looking through a pretend camera) "Say cheese. Cute! Want to see?" And then she turned the pretend camera around and walked by all of them saying "Do you see it?" Anyway, I have learned it's best to clean up once, every night, but sometimes, it can get quite chaotic

Taking her shopping with me is always crazy as well. I don't know why I brave it because most of the time this is what happens:

This shopping trip I was saying goodbye to some friends and she was having a little....fun? of her own. The glasses and jewelry all belong to the store, as do all of the slippers she tried on that you can see behind her! She thought she looked so "chute"....and she did!
I've been a little stressed at how behind I feel sometimes, but remembered the other day about the cross-stiched poem my mom had hanging at the top of our stairs while I was gowing up:

Cleaning and Scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But babies grow up, we learn to our sorrow
So quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep
I'm rocking my baby, because babies don't keep

I was watching a tv show tonight where a woman was sick and knew she didn't have as long to live as she would have liked. Someone in the show said "If you were her, what would you be doing right now?" If that was me, I would be here-in this crazy life- enjoying my family. I would be playing with my kids, cleaning up after them, laughing at the dress up in the stores, savoring Jaxon's new little laugh, and loving all of the hilarious things that Jadyn says. No need to wait for something tragic. So, I will enjoy it. My cleaning and scrubbing, clutter and chaos can just hang out and wait while I enjoy my kids as much as possible.

It's late-which could add to the sappiness tonight. All the same I am off to go snuggle my sweet Jadyn who isn't feeling so hot and is camping out in our bed for the night. I will post Halloween pics tomorrow. We had a great day.

Shots....so not fun

It was Doctor day for the kids. Jaxon had his 4 month apt and Jadyn had her 3 year (holy cow, where did the time go?) check up. Jaxon weighed in at 13 lbs, 11 oz and 26 inches so that put him at 15% for his weight and 75% for his height. Tall and skinny-definately not my genes! Dr checked him out and said he looks great. Jadyn wow'd him with her color/letter knowledge. She checked out good as well. It was then time for the shots. I had warned JAdyn about this-she needed her flu shot. She was very insistent on having Jaxon go first and she had to sit right next to him to reassure him that it was ok and to be brave. He had to get 4 shots and was a very unhappy camper. Jade was next and she tried to be brave, but got nervous and started crying before the shot even got close to her leg! She cried and cried. I had been telling her it would hurt a little bit so that she knew what to expect. Well, when we were leaving and she was still crying and I said "Did it hurt a little bit?" She responded with "No, it hurt BAD!" Oops. Scott and I were telling her later we had to get out Flu shots next week. She said "Ohhhhhh, you will be brave and not cry and then I will get my monies and by you a chocolate treat (which is what scott did for her)!" It was so cute! SO those shots on top of the 3 or 4 I got from the dentist today, has made it not so fun.
Good news was when Jade woke up from her nap she announced her owie was all gone and feeling better! She was then ready for pumpkin painting! She was so happy about getting to do this. We did this last year too, I think we'll have to do it every year. She loves it! I forgot to take pictures until the end, but this is what it looks like when we are done!
Painting pumpkins can be messy, but Soft Scrub cleaned it right up! I was pleasantly suprised! There was paint on the counter, chairs, the floor, you name it!

And yes, hands and clothes get a little dirty too!

But it sure is worth it to see how proud she is of herself!

Final product! The elmo pumpkin in now tradition and the craft is supposed to look like Candy Corn and yes-I painted both kids feet for that! So cute! I love it!

You have what?

A funny from Jadyn
Jade: "Mom, I have a runny nose. I have Jesus"
Mom: "You have what? Jesus?"
Jade: "Yes mom, a runny nose from allerjesus'"
Mom: "Oh, you have allergies?"
Jade: "Yeah, allerjesus'"

Whew, glad we got that one figured out!

Self Control-who has it?

I need to work on this. After watching Suze Orman on Oprah the other day I decided I need to cut back on a few things. 1-Buying my kids clothes (a little too often) 2-Trips to the gas station. Suze is a finacial speaker and she convinced me that I need to evaluate where I am spending "excess" money. The two things listed above are a good source of my excess spending. So- I need to sit down with Scott, go over the budget, budget the 2 things above in, and not spend more than that. Many of you may be laughing as it seems an impossible feat, but I am going to try. Should we talk Self Control on my addiction to sugar (Red Vine super strings)? Hmmmm....no,no need to even voice it. If you know me, you know I love treats and I am always working on it, just don't seem to do a very good job. So ok, out in public, I will try harder. Whew.....I'm on my way to having better Self Control! :)

Fun at the Farm

I've learned something about myself in the last few months that I always thought was normal, but have decided that though it's not uncommon, not all share in this joy. So what is it? I like going places. I like taking my kids all different places. Whether it's to Classic Skating, the Mall, the Aquarium, the zoo, Gardner Village, Parks, farm, whatever it is, I like going and doing things. Before I had kids I would drag my nieces and nephews around. Unfortunately for them, once I had Jade, I started taking her more (obviously) and them less. I feel bad about that, but I guess it's just the way things work. It's not that I don't enjoy my time at home, but with my very active, almost 3 year old, I feel like she enjoys getting out and doing things and is happier when we are doing random things-hence the reason we were out and about every day while I was on maternity leave. I believe my mom and sister may think I am crazy for constantly going! Oh well, they love me all the same. Anyway, My sister-n-law and I took the kids to the "Hee Haw Farm" tonight. I had heard about it on a local tv show and decided we would try it out. It was ok. Worth the $4 we paid to get in, but not sure we'll make it down again next year. Jade had a good time though, which is the reason we went.

My Daughter....the Artist

2 weeks ago Jadyn was coloring and Scott was working on SChool things. Jadyn handed him a paper and said "Here daddy. I draw this for you" I heard Scott say "You didn't draw that!" To which Jade told him she did. He asked her to draw it again and much to his surprise, she did. And so began the drawing of.....Smiley faces. On the days that she does pre-school at daycare she comes home with papers that they do to learn letters, colors, or shapes, and all over the front and the back of the paper are her happy faces. I love it. It makes me smile every time I seem them. Ugh, she is so cute! So it's been about 2 weeks and today she drew this:

Clearly (wink) you can see that is a mommy happy face with a baby happy face in her belly. I love the ears and the hair-when she draws them she has to first draw a circle and then color in the ears and hair. Not sure why! Man...the girl makes me laugh every day! (And no, there is no baby in her mommy's tummy!)

Slacker

I soooo hate when people don't post on their blogs. Here I am annonymously reading strangers blogs and I get annoyed when they don't post! I know, it's odd. So I have been slacking. It's been a week. That is a long time in blogging world. I can't say we have been too busy, just not blogging. I went to bed twice this week at 10:00. That is amazing for me. I'm usually a Midnight or later girl!

We have been enjoying being outside this week. It is so nice out there so I have taken the kids on a walk everyday. I used to be able to get a good workout when I walk, even with the kids, but it varies lately. Jade likes to walk too, so part of the walk is usually at a very slow pace and she gets off the stroller and walks (and lolly gags while she looks at everything there is to see)I don't mind though. We have a good time. Tuesday I wanted to go to the gym and take Jade to the park. We got doing a few things and I didn't have time for both. Scott said he'd take her to the park and I thought he'd leave after 30 min or so, but he stayed there through my entire class so pretty close to an hour and a half. What a nice Dad! Jadyn was so happy and Jaxon was so good in my class!

We watched conference this weekend and I must say one of the most important things I took from it was understanding the importance of being a good parent and what a priviledge it is to have these sweet babies in our lives. I am definately grateful for my 2 cute kids and love them to pieces! This weeked was also family filled! My grandma celebrated her 75th birthday and we had a big ol'party. All of my Aunts and Uncles came in town, which was fun. Scott's cousin from Cali was also in town for Conference and brought with him his Fiance! It was good to see them! So- all in all, I may have been slacking at the blog, but I have sure enjoyed spending time with lots of Family!

Now to the pics: My Aunt Miriam just took up knitting. When she first told me that I was thinking "Old Lady Knitting" but no, no, no! She is knitting the CUTEST things and I am so grateful she needed some Models to try some things on! So here they are in their Aunt Mimi originals! :) Jade was lucky to get to keep one considering how nice and friendly she was this weekend to Mimi!

Jade has been getting these princess dolls for potty training, sleeping at night, whatever and she loves them. She sets them up and plays pretend with them. It is so cute! Don't mind the outfit. G-ma watched her and she got to wear her pj's all day and not have to do her hair! She was in HEAVEN!!!!

Here is Jadyn when I ask her to smile at the camera

And here is JAdyn when I use reverse psych. and tell her "Don't smile at me!" Ugh, she is such a girl!

Cute Kids!

Took the kids to get pics for Jax 3 months and Halloween. I think they turned out really good. I had them done by Danielle and her business is called Expressions! There is proof in here that when I posted Jade's mad face, she wasn't just making it up.

The Greatest Show on Earth!

We took the kids to the circus this weekend! Jadyn loved it! She looked a lot like this during the show! She is laughing and pointing at the elephants!
She definately liked the animals a lot more than the acrobatic type things. She said her favorite part was the Zebras and the Elephants

Jaxon looked a lot like this. He was mesmerized by all of the lights! He did fall asleep the second half.

We all had such a good time and enjoyed spending time with our family (and Aunt Brandee)

And last, is a picture of Jadyn while we were waiting to be seated at dinner. I posted below about this, but she was mad and pounting and couldn't find a corner to go to, so she layed on the ground instead! So cute....now-not at the time! :)
