Jade's Birthday Celebration (Part 1)!

We all had fun celebrating Jade's birthday. Well, Scott and Jax both got strep and had been to the dr the day before so they were stuck home for the day which we were all sad about. Jade woke up early and was really excited to open her presents! She then had to get ready for school. Luckily it was short day so she was only there until 10:30. Since the boys were home sick Jade and I headed to the mall to Build-a-Bear for her to make Hello Kitty-which was one of her gifts from us. She had a lot of fun picking it out and making her. Afterwards we got some lunch and then yogurt. We had so much fun hanging out for the afternoon.

Later that night we went to Olive Garden (Jade's choice) with some family and then went and picked up the boys. We went and saw "MegaMind". It was ok. Jade asked about 1/2 way through if it was almost done because she was ready to go home and have cupcakes and hang out with the boys! Jade made her cupcakes earlier in the day and was excited to share them with her cousins!

Jade's 6 year old pictures

I decided this year when I went to get the kids pictures done that I was going to let Jade pick out her own outfit for her 6 year old pictures. Why have I not thought of this earlier?!?! I didn't give her any direction or exclusions on what she could wear. She chose all of her accessories and the hairstyle. The outfit with her flair made the pictures turn out great. I LOVE them!
(The horse shirt was her favorite part of her outfit. It was the one thing she knew right away she wanted to wear and everything else was based around the shirt!)

Jadyn turns 6!

WARNING: THIS IS A LONG POST!!! BUT...I use this for our family journal so birthday posts can be lengthy right?

I can't believe Jade is 6! I remember the day she was born like it was yesterday! It scares me that the past 6 years went by so quickly because I have heard that girls are way harder to raise as teenagers and in 6 more years she will be 12!!! Scary! I love her more than I ever thought I could.

A few things about Jade from this year!
1- I can't tell you the number of times I hear from people how funny she is and how cute it is to listen to her. She things she is 6 turning 16 so when she talks it is very entertaining. She cracks me up.
2- She can be a little....bossy. I listen to her talk to her friends/brother/cousins and have to remind her she is not the boss!
3- She is a HUGE helper to me. She is so good about helping me with whatever/whenever. I am very grateful for all she helps me with
4-She is pretty obedient. She doesn't get in trouble often and if she does she is all sorts of dramatic about it! ;)
5-I love that she is getting older and we go and do girl stuff together. I love taking her to plays, getting pedicures, watching Supernanny, ect. It's so fun!
6-She loves to play with friends. She could play for hours and hours. She loves having someone to play with at all times and is always bummed if she can't!
7-She loves to play babies. She also loves to get to take the babies with us places. She can't just take the baby though, she has to take the carseat, blankets and a big ol bag full of "stuff".
8- She is in the stage of writing and trying to sound out words. I LOVE it. She writed notes and draws pictures with words that are not right but she is sooo proud of herself and so am I! :)
9- She is a good big sister to Jax. Don't get me wrong...the two of them can argue but she loves him and she protects him. She gets mad if anyone tries to hurt or bug him. She is good to share with him and help him
10-She is still so loving. She gives lots of hugs and kisses and is always saying she loves me. I will say though, and this makes me sad, she doesn't ask for holds much anymore! I know she is 6 but I go back and read what I have written from the past years and see how she would ask for holds everyday! I miss that! She does still like me to lay by her though. I need to make sure I enjoy it! And yeah....she still spends a good amount of days in my bed! :)

Things I know about Jade 2008 that are still true in 2010

1- She rarely sleeps in her own room.
2- .She loves taking Dance and Gymnastics. Both make her very happy
3- She loves to sing and dance. She still likes Hannah.
4- She still LOVES her boy cousins but most of her friends now are girls
5- She is such a girly girl playing dress up, dolls, kitchen etc and yet loves to get dirty, watch Star Wars (or Ghost busters, Scooby doo, etc) and find (and hold) bugs. She even enjoyed watching her dad gut a fish last weekend. GROSS! I even walked away for that one!6- She can be super sassy and dramatic.
7- But most often is super sweet and amazingly funny.

And an update from 2009
1. She hates when we go places with just her, jax and me. She ALWAYS wants someone to come with us. Reminds me of myself.
- Still true. That being said, she loves to go do “girl things” with me.

2. She talks....and talks....and talks....and talks....and talks. ALOT-constantly! Gosh I do not know where she gets this from! ;) I still try HARD to refrain from saying "Stop Talking!!!" (I was told that one too many times as a child) but sometimes I can't refrain and the words just come out of my mouth!!!
- Oh seriously. I think this has only gotten worse. The girl loves to talk

3. She has dissed the little kid cartoons: Dora, Little Einsteins, Backyardigans, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, etc. She now is all about: Hannah Montanna, ICarly, Zach and Cody, Wizard of Waverly, Hannah, Hannah, Hannah. Tonight she told me that if we have another girl baby (no, I'm not pregnant) we definitely need to name her Miley! Yeah....not going to happen.
- Still true but her and Jax will still watch Max and Ruby together

4. She loves to color and draw. She got markers and paper and stuff for her birthday and she loves it. Unfortunately she makes a mess whenever she does it because she like to get EVERYTHING out. Oh well...at least she is being creative!
- Still true and she is getting to the stage where she likes to write and sound out words. Like Baks (books) Fod (Food) I think it’s awesome

5. She has a weird obsession about telling me that if she ever has another mom she will tell her she is ugly and that she doesn't like her. Not sure why she says it or what exactly I am supposed to say back. She definitely still has a fierce loyalty to me. She does not like if if she feels like ANYONE is being mean to me or hurting me in anyway.
- Still true

6. She talks like she is 16. People are always laughing at the things she says because she is hilarious and talks way older than 5. She has a very dramatic way about her and it comes out when she talks. Again....not sure where she gets it!
-Um….yes

7. She likes to show Jaxon something she has that she knows he wants and then when he says he wants it she runs away while he screams-shrieks-and chases her. She thinks it is the funniest thing EVER. I....do not!

- This doesn’t happen as often but that is because Jax doesn’t need any taunting. If Jade is around there is a 90% chance JAx is buggin her, pushing her, crawling all over her, trying to take whatever he has. He may be 3 but he could already take.her.down. When the two of them get in their moods where they are playing/fighting I go a little crazy.

8. As mentioned above she doesn't get in trouble a lot but when she does, she is obedient in following the punishment. With having Jax, I REALLY appreciate that she is that way.
-Yes, this is still true. The only difference is she has perfected her whining and bargaining a little more to try to get out of things. Then when I finally give her the look she goes quickly.

9. She loves babies and REALLY wants a little sister. She is just going to have to keep waiting for awhile.
- Still VERY true. She wants a baby really bad. She loves little kids-especially Maddie (who is in our ward). She is going to be a fantastic helper if the day ever comes!

10. She is a very dilligent handwasher. She uses more germies than anyone I know. I appreciate this one-it is a sure bet that her hands are ALWAYS clean.
-This may have gotten worse too! And she goes CRAZY if Jax ever comes out of the bathroom with out his undies on. She is so afraid he is going to sit down somewhere and get bum germs everywhere! She got a bear from build-a-bear this summer and I noticed that she wasn’t playing with it anymore. I asked her why and she said “Ummmm….I think Jax might have sat on it….without undies….so I can’t play with it anymore.” She was dead serious. I assured her he didn’t (I totally lied. I had no idea).

11. For close to a year now she has been VERY insistent that she is not having kids when she grows up. She has decided she will get married but it also insistent that she will be living in the basement. She is NOT moving out and is NOT having kids. Everyone once in awhile I try to trick her and say "When you have kids...." and she catches it EVERY time and says "I am not going to be a mom!!!!" Hmmm...wonder if this will change by next year.
-It has changed! We are up to yes-she is being a mom, but to only ONE child! And….she is still living in the basement. One day we were driving in the car and we had this conversation:
Jade: Mom, I’m not going to college
Mom: Oh….but you are! It’s good for you
Jade (seriously tearing up): No mom! I’m not going
Mom (realizing there is a problem): Why not?
Jade: Because I am living with you forever. I’m not leaving
Mom: Oh….well there are schools where you can just go in the morning and come home at night
Jade: Ohhhhh….OK. That’s the kind I want to do

And several times since then she has mentioned that the kind of college she is going to is the one where you come home at night. She still has no intention on EVER leaving. I’m ok with that! ;)

12. She cares about her clothes. In the past I just grabbed an outfit and we put it on. Not true anymore. She has her opinions about clothes and if she doesn't like it, she doesn't wear it. If I insist she wear something specific (doesn't happen often) she is quick to take it off when she gets home. Same with her hair. If she thinks I do something that is ugly or thinks it's not pretty, she has a little meltdown in the bathroom.
- Very, Very true. And it makes her day if someone notices how cute she is looking on a certain day!

13. She loves to build forts. She has had a permanent fort in her room for awhile now. To watch DVD's....not for sleeping in because we all know there is no sleeping going on in her room.
- Not so much. This could be because I got tired of it and don’t let her build them as much.

14. My FAVORITE thing: Even though she is 5, she is still very sweet. She loves to cuddle. She loves me to come and sit down and hold her on the couch. She loves to be with me and go places with me. She gives me hugs and kisses every day. She tells me how much she loves me everyday. She gives me compliments such as "You look so pretty" "I love your hair" everyday. (She also tells me when I stink after a workout and if I am sweaty she refuses to even come close to me until I shower) I love that she is still like this. I pray it never changes!
I love Jade so much. She makes me happy EVERY day. If she knows I am in a bad/sad mood she is quick to help. She is definitely a bight part of both Scott and my day!

Star wars/monchichi

The day after Jades birthday I think Jax thought it was his. Scott's brother was cleaning out his room and decided that it was time for his Star War's toys to find a new home....at our house. He brought over a HUGE box and bag FULL of toys! I'm not sure who was more excited: Scott or Jax!
Jaxon has LOVED playing with them. I laugh because Michael brought them over all in their original boxes with all of the guns and accessories still there. While we have taken away all the little accessories to make sure we keep them for awhile, the toys will probably never be back in their boxes and Jax has managed to break several things and had to have them glued back together. But- He loves playing "spaceships" and setting up all the "shiny guys". I love watching him fly all the spaceships around. It's pretty funny!

And...while we are on the subject of old toys, My sister found a Mon chichi monkey at Target and got it for the boys to give Jadyn for her birthday. I had a mon chichi when I was little! My grandma has one that has got to be 30 years old and Jade loves playing with it when she is there so she was soooo excited that she got a girl mon chichi!

Another one bites the dust!

Jade took this picture of herself the day she lost her tooth! I was impressed! :)

She lost another one! This one she pulled out at school. When I picked her up from school she told me she pulled it out. Her teacher came over and was laughing about how Jade didn't tell her she pulled it out until the end of the day! This is Jades 6th or 7th tooth. She has pulled out all of them herself with no tears of fuss! She cracks me up and I love her toothless smile! :)

Halloween

With Halloween on Sunday we pretty much celebrated all weekend! Friday I was able to go and help in Jade's class for their Halloween party. It is always fun to be in the classroom with her!
Jade loves Mrs. Mckenna!
Saturday Scott's dad and Belva came over to see the kids in their costumes and brought them a few treats before we headed over to my mom's for dinner. It's always fun to see all the kids in their costumes. Here are all the cousins on my side-minus Brittan.

The fam!

After my mom's we came back to Trick-or-Treat. Jon and Ashley and kids came with us again this year-which is always fun! Despite the rain, we had a great time! Jax lasted about 30 min and then was ready to go home. Jade said she was going until she filled up her bucket. So...I dropped Jax off at home to Scott and Jade and Brand and I kept on going. We went until the bucket was full-we were out for about 90 min! Go Jade!

This is our next door neighbor. She does a whole big thing with the witches brew and offering the kids worms and stuff. It's so funny. If only I could have gotten Wyatt on video when he walked up to the door. He did NOT like the witch at all. We walked away and Jax said "It's just a witch. She's nice!" It was pretty funny!
Here is Jade with her full bucket!
All the candy just before she sorted it all out!

We had a fun Halloween and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Now we are looking forward to Jade's birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas! I love this time of year!

Pumpkins...pumpkins.....pumpkins

We carve them:
-Jade didn't want anything to do with the "goo". Brand and I scraped her pumpkin and Jax and Scott scraped Jax's pumpkin. Then the kids got to carving....

or not. Scott and Lewis got to carving....
they turned out GREAT! Jade chose Hello Kitty....
and Jax got Batman!
The kids loved them!

We also paint pumpkins.....

and his body!

Friends

I love these pictures and these girls. Jade and Sahara have become such great friends since school started. They are in the same class and can go to school together and then play for 5 or 6 hours after school and still be happy with each other at the end of the day.

Jade and Em are not in the same class but they all play together at recess. Jade also loves to play with Emma. How fun to have a cousin the same age at school!
