Drive In

We decided that we needed to go and do something fun the last weekday night of the summer that was not a school night. So....we borrowed my dad's car and headed to the Drive In. We were a little worried about how Jax would do, but he was sooo good. We saw Despicable Me. I really like it-as did both kids. The movie after was Karate Kid. We decided we would stay. Jade fell asleep pretty quickly and Jax-since he napped till 7:00-stayed awake for the entire show! Crazy kid. He did really well though and we had a fun time!

It's time for the Mosquito killing to end

It is a well known fact that Scott loves his summer job. LOVES it. Ask him what he does and he'll say "I'm a hero...a warrior-that's what" He kills mosquitos and he loves it. Well, it's probably more who he works with and the good times they have while driving to kill the mosquitos-but he loves it all the same. I'm glad he has a summer job and I'm glad he likes it. But....there is one problem. He likes to catch things and bring them to my kids. It's driving me nuts! The first big frog thing he brought home lived in a bucket on the porch and smelled nasty. Scott found mosquito larve in it and decided to put vegetable oil in the water. A few days later....while scott was out of town....the thing died from getting no air...due to the veggie oil. AFter that he brought home a little tiny frog. It lived in a little container inside.....and then a week or so later he brought another frog. Two days ago he brought home 4 more frogs!!!! Seriously. Kids love it but I think they are gross. And....last night as Scott was cleaning out their little bowl he realized the tiny one was missing. The big one ATE IT!!!! RUDE! He is done two weeks from today. I just hope he doesn't bring anymore before that!

See that little frog on the bigger frogs back? Yeah, he is no longer with us

Kindergarten!

Jade has been looking forward to Kindergarten for a LONG time. She was excited for the day to finally come when she could start. We picked out just a few new shirts since she still has so many summer clothes to wear while it's hot. My mom picked her up from gymnastics Monday night and took her to get a shake and read her "The kissing hand". Jade thought that was awesome-especially when her teacher read it to her on the first day! Jax and I took her to school and waited with her to go inside! There were no tears for either of us! It was hard for me to be sad when she was so excited and very ready to go to school. When we went to pick her up she said she had fun but she was REALLY tired! She is not used to getting up at 7:15!!! That will take some getting used to.
I think the hardest thing for me is knowing that she is getting so big and that she will be influenced by so many things the next 13 years in school. I love her to pieces and just hope that she will always know that on the bad days at school she can always come home to a place that loves her no matter what! I love ya Jade! I am so excited for you!

Woo Hoo!!!!

See those? They no longer exsist in our house! I was soooo nervous to potty train Jax. I thought it would be a nightmare. So....I am happy to report it was not-at all! I ran out of diapers and decided not to buy anymore. The first day he was in underwear he peed about 10 times. Pretty much all day and he didn't seem to care that he was wet. I knew my fears were coming true. This was going to be rough. But Sat was oo much better and each day follwing he did great. We have had a few accidents since then but it has been VERY painless. The last few days he has even gone without me asking! Makes me happy! So how'd we do it? I had a plan. I read a book that several people had used. I was set to follow the plan. HA! Jax doesn't follow plans so I threw that out the window day one. What works is not to force him to go every 20 min, or say "Remember to tell me when you need to go" cuz he won't. This is how it works.
Every hour or so we have this conversation
Mom: Jax I need you to go in and go potty
Jax: (Whining) But I don't have any.
Jax sits on the potty
Jax: Nope, don't have any
Mom: Jax, you can either go potty or up to your room
Jax: But I don't have any
Mom: OK...let's go upstairs
Jax: FINE I'll go potty!!!!!
Funny....I didn't find that method in a book. :) I'm sure threatening timeout is not recommended but it's what works for him and he is no worse for the wear!
All I can say is how great it is to be done with diapers for at least a year! YIPEE!!!
