Making cookies

She's 4.5 years old. Should I admit this next part?!?!? This may be the first time I have EVER made cookies from scratch (besides the pumpkin cookies that has two ingredients) with her. Bad mom? Probably. When I make cookies it consists of buying the pre-made dough and putting the little squares on the cookie sheet! :) We had a good time though, and now that I did it once, it definitely won't be the last! This was the only picture I got of our cookie adventure! They were super yummy too. Note to self: 1/2 the recipe next time. Sugar cookie recipes seem to make LOTS of cookies that I end up eating way too many myself!

Taking the dipping to a whole new level

Jax decided to take the dipping to a whole new level......Licorice in Ranch. Do you think he liked it?

By the look on his face, I think it was a hit. I'm not trying it! ;)

Funny story

A few weeks ago Scott and I went to a wedding dinner for my cousin. When we walked up to the door there was a list with your name on it and what table you were to sit at. This is what we saw:

We laughed. I'm not sure Scott thought it was as funny as I did (or my family did) and my Aunt apologized (while laughing) when we told her about it! I admitted it may have been my own fault when I RSVP'd I think I put my Name and didn't realize it said Mr. and Mrs. _________ first. Oops! :)

Here is a pic of Mr and Mrs Ali Sommer from the night!

Baseball has begun

We went to our first Baseball game on Saturday. It may be our last! :) Jax does love to be outside, but he doesn't love to be told where he can and can't go. So if he wants to walk on to the the field, he wants to walk on the field and a fit will ensue if you try to stop him. He doesn't like to sit for even a minute so I spent the entire time just following him as he walked around. Needless to say, we may not go to too many games this year! Jade was sad we couldn't stay long enough for her to ride on a golf cart. I promised we would do that a few times this year!

I love this picture. He loves Scott's hats and wears them around whenever he gets his hands on them. But no, he won't wear his own hats. They are on and off in two seconds!

If this picture isn't a boy after his mom's heart: Licorice and Diet Pepsi. Doesn't get much better! :) I love this picture though. A pic of the field, yummy treats, and a cute little boy!

Disney on Ice

This is a little late, but I thought I better document it anyway. Jade, Brandee and I went to Disney on Ice a few weeks ago. This is actually our 3rd time going. Jade has been spoiled by also going to Disneyland 3 times already. When I told her Disney on Ice was coming up we had this conversation:

Jade: So do we get to get on a plane?
Mom: No, we just drive there. REmember the place where the ice skate?
J: So there are no rides?
Mom: No, just ice skating
J: Oh, so it's going to be boring right?
Mom: Well....it won't be as exciting as DisneyLand but I think you'll have fun
J: Yeah, I think so. Remember.....

And then she went on to recap the last 2 years we were there. It's amazing that she remembers everything about the past two years-especially when she was only 2.5 yrs old!

I thought (very briefly) about taking Jax with us, but decided against it. I will add him to the tradition when he can sit for at least 30 min. Right now, we are no where close! We had a fun time though. We went shopping for a little bit first and then went to California Pizza Kitchen after. Jade did have a good time. She loved seeing Lilo and Stitch. She ate dinner and then came and sat on my lap. Amazingly enough, she was asleep about 3 min later. She slept while we carried her back to the car, all the way home, and didn't wake up until 6:30 the next morning! The show must have worn her out! :)

This was on the way home from Disney on Ice 2008. Some things never change! :)

A small splurge on Jax

wanted to splurge on. But.....I was looking on line the other day for some navy croc shoes for Jax. I love croc style shoes. Not always the look, but I love being able to just spray them off to clean them, and the easy on, easy off, for the kids. As I was looking for the knock off crocs somewhere I came across these:

Now, I am not a character clothing mom. I let Jade wear them for bed, but that's about it. I am not a fan of character shoes, light up shoes, stuff like that. I am also one that usually doesn't buy cutesy animal stuff either. Just not my type. I am fine if other mom's are, I'm just not. But.....when I came across these shoes I just loved them. The bottoms of them have gator foot prints so if they get wet...or muddy.....they leave footprints. They are just so dang cute. Jax and Jade both love them. Jade wanted some too once she saw Jax's. She is already set for summer shoes so I told her we would buy her some of the warmer looking ones after summer is over. Anyways, I almost didn't get them. They were $25 and considering Brandee did find Jax some of the regular crocs at Target for $8 I probably SHOULD have gone with those. But-I decided that since Jax is usually always just getting the "Baisc, boring" boy things, it was ok for me to get these. We all know Jade has had her turns at being splurged on! So.....It is almost a sure thing that if you see Jax sometime in the next 6 months (that is if spring/summer ever comes back again) and he is wearing blue, you will see him sporting these little gators on his feet!

Good weather = Happy Boy.

This week the weather has been FABULOUS and today...it is supposed to be 70! It has been my saving grace this week. Monday I opened up the backdoor for Jax to go play. He found the gravel that SCott dug out from the window well. He played in them for an hour. He got dirty, he threw rocks at the fence. Jax was happy! I had SCott walk him down to the park later that night. Jax was happy. Jax got sick. Woke up Tuesday morning and threw up. He followed me around crying all. day. long. The crying stopped only when he was outside. It was like he would forget he didn't feel good. So I got out the outside toys that have been under the tarp all winter. Jax was happy. We went to the park for a picnic that night. Jax was VERY happy. I'm sure he dreamed of outside weather all night. I was happy because he seemed to be feeling better. I was wrong. He woke up Wed. I got him dressed so we could head to daycare. He wasn't better. He threw up ALL over my white carpet. Jax is doing a number on the white carpet in my room. Can't he throw up and spill nail polish in his room? None the less, daycare was no longer on the radar. Jade decided that since Jax wasn't going, she shouldn't have to either. I became the deceptive mother and said "Well, you can stay hope if you watch Jax for me and I do not want to hear him scream!" She was very happy to oblige. They were good. They played downstairs for over an hour. When they were done I opened the back door.....and Jax was happy. He played outside for an hour. I was able to work in peace and the kids were home! He napped and woke up grumpy. What did I do? You got it. I opened the door and he played for another hour! I was going with Cher for the night so I let Scott know that to keep him happy it would be best to let him play outside. They headed back down to the park. Happy boy. Unfortunately still not healthy. He was up at midnight throwing up again! I wouldn't have the kids home again....so I sent him to Grandpa Roy's. I let him in on the outside Therapy Jax needs and he obliged. They played outside, the played with the dog. Jax was happy! I also had a church meeting last night so Grandpa Roy and Belva came back. Therapy was needed again so off to the park they went!

So Thank you Spring weather!!!! You have kept Jax and I both happy this week in a not so healthy time. If we had to stay inside all week, I'm sure we would all be a little looney now. It is supposed to snow on Sun and Mon. Thankfully 70 degree weather is in the forecast today and tomorrow though. I'm sure we will spend a majority of the days outside......and Jax will be happy!

She Sings....

Not only does the girl dance, she sings. A lot. She LOVES the "Jessi" song from Toy Story. She loves to play it on the computer and sing along. The other night she was singing it VERY loudly and I decided it was time to record it. It's not a great video because I didn't think she would let me record her so I just set the camera on the desk.

This makes Scott so proud!

The girl loves Star Wars. I, on the other hand, have never seen a full episode of any of the Star Wars Movies. I went to one in the theater but I fell asleep. Scott loves to watch the movies with Jade. I will admit she definitely knows more about Star Wars than I do!

The Microwave

Scott says this could be the break of our marriage someday! ;)

I will admit he has asked more than 1239328 times to clear the microwave when I am done using it so that you can see the clock. I put things in the microwave and never let it run the entire time I put it in for-and for some reason I just never remember to clear it! It drives Scott crazy though. If we are sitting on the couch and he says "Ughhhh......" I immediately know that I once again forgot to clear the microwave! I'm pretty sure he still loves me despite of this issue!

Coral

Meet our new pet. Her name is Coral Gold. The kids love her. It's probably the only type of pet we will ever have! :)

Zoo!

We have really enjoyed having a zoo pass this year. I am not a fan of going when it's cold though, so we haven't been for a few months. Last week we were lucky enough to had some good weather and we ended up going to the Zoo twice! It was so great to get the kids outside. Jaxon was definitely in heaven to just be able to walk around. He loves being outside and I can not wait for the nice weather to come and stay! Unfortunately, it's supposed to snow tomorrow!

He LOVES peas!

I know I have said several times that Jax loves peas, but for the sake of one day maybe forgetting just how much, I documented it. Just today his Daycare said "He eats his peas before he eats anything else" And we were going to the mall around dinner and I thought I better grab something for Jax to eat so he wasn't too hungry. I grabbed cold peas from the fridge. He was so excited and at all of them-which was more than 1/2 a can! I think it's nasty....so does Jade. Scott will eat them from a can too, so that must be where he gets it from!

I have seen this on many blogs. I kept not commenting on people's blogs because I was thinking "What would I make" but, I gave in and I will make 3 great gifts for those who comment. Now, just don't let me down and have no one leave a comment. And if you were like me thinking: what will I make, just try it. I am! Also, if you don't have a blog, it's ok. You just have to commit to making something for 3 people in the next year! Ok, here we go!

Ice Skating

Jade has been wanting to go Ice Skating for awhile now and I kept telling her we would go "sometime". I got an email about a great deal at the Olympic Oval, so I decided it was time to own up to my promise. We had to go after 7:00 so I decided I would take Jade and Scott could stay home with Jax since I didn't want to have to have him just sit and watch. I then decided that we should call Brandee to see if she wanted to come. Um.....it was a good decision to call her. I knew that I would have to help Jade skate but we definitely needed the two of us to get her started. I was glad we asked for the walker looking thing to help her out. After about 30 min she worked out her own "style" of skating and had a blast. I'm glad we took her and I'm sure we'll go again...."sometime"

An update

Today was better. Much better. We got to church on time. Not early, which meant we didn't get a "soft seat" like Jade likes, but at least we were on time. Jaxon was Jax in Sacrament and we had to take him out a few times. No big deal. Nursery was nursery. I alternated between the 2 nursery classes since all the classes had subs. I asked Scott to come help in Jaxon's class at the end. When class was over Scott was a little upset. He realized, just like I had been telling him, that Jax is the mean kid in class. He likes to take toys and snacks from all the other kids. But watch out if someone tries to take something from him! He doesn't like to sit still for snack time-under the table is usually his place of choice. I think it is more frustrating for Scott and I than for the nursery leaders, because we get upset that he acts that way. Anway....enough about that for now. He at least goes to nursery. After church the kids went to my mom's since Scott and I were going to get our recommends. They didn't have time though so I picked up the kids after I had changed. My mom had fed them lunch, so that was nice. I came home and put Jax right to bed. I ate lunch and then Jade and I headed up to bed around 2:00. Jade watched a show for a little while and I slept. Jade then fell asleep too. And then we slept and slept. We didn't wake up until 5:45!!!! It was so nice. There is nothing better than Sunday naps! We started something new today: No mom's house for dinner on Fast Sunday. Until today, we have gone to my mom's house for dinner every week. About 9 months ago we started going to my dad's on the 3rd Sunday. We FINALLY talked my mom into doing dinner just 2 x's a month. Cooking dinner for 20 people every Sunday gets very expensive and my mom also said that it would give us all a chance to have other people over for dinner at our homes once a month that we might like to get to know better. She had a good point. Anyway, I will admit that is was nice to just wake up from our nap and do our own dinner. To be honest, now that baseball starts tomorrow, it will probably be the only day we sit down to dinner with Scott. At least for the next 3 months. Anyway, we got the kids bathed and Jax in bed by 7:45 (though I can still hear him upstairs)
So needless to say, it was a better day. No ruined carpet, no accidents at church, and no hurt eyes!
