A Rough Sunday

Ok, I am posting this now in hopes that tomorrow is a bit of a better day than last Sunday. I had gotten up a little early because I had a meeting with the Bishop (more on that later). The kids were both up and I was trying to keep Jax entertained so I gave Jax my box of nail polish. (Bad idea #1) He has played with them a few times and loves to just carry them around and stack them. Well.....just a few minutes before I was supposed to head out the door, little Jax decided to dump all of the bottles on the floor. When he did this, one of the bottles broke open-All over my white carpet. Great. I honestly think Scott and I stared at the mess for about 10 seconds before we reacted. It was as if we had no idea how to get it out. Scott even said "This is never coming out." To which I replied "Yeah, I think you are right" Seeing as I was now late for my meeting, I took Jadyn with me and left Scott with Jaxon and the mess.
This picture makes it look much smaller that it is!

After my meeting with the Bishop, Jade and I went in and sat down for Sacrament meeting. Jade had to go to the bathroom so for the first time ever I told her she could go ahead and go by herself. (Bad idea #2) The meeting started, the announcements were made and 1/2 way through the song I began to wonder where Jade was. When the song ended I decided I best find out. Just as I am walking out to find her, someone is pointing at me motioning that she needs help. I go into the bathroom and she is sitting there and her undies and tights are all wet with pee. She obviously didn't pull everything down far enough. I then asked her how someone knew to come find me. Well.....of course when she realized she needed some assistance she just started yelling "MOM!!! MOM!!!" in the church bathroom while I am CLEAR down the hall! Awesome. Some lady finally asked her what her mom's name is and she would try to find her. Yeahhhh..... So with no undies, tights, or undies on, we walk back into Sacrament, collect our stuff, and run home to change!
I helped out in Jax's nursery class. I haven't ever sat in his class before. Want to know what I learned while I was there? He is the toy taker in class. He just walks around grabbing everyone's toys! His teachers are pretty good about taking the toy from him and telling him that so and so was playing with it first, but still....he is the toy taker. One kid was brave enough to try to take a toy from Jax. He grabbed it out of Jax's hands and started to walk away. Little Jax was having none of that. He chased him down and then they played a fierce round of tug-o-war until JAx got his toy back!

The afternoon was spent with me visiting teaching and Scott home teaching. Pretty uneventful there.

We went to Megan's for dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday. Both Jade and Jax love playing there. Jade was playing as a superhero with a blanket tied around her. As she was coming down the stairs she tripped on her blanket and face planted directly into the corner of the couch. Her eye immediately started swelling and bruising.

It was then that I decided we best call it a night. It had been a long day for us and we best call it a day before anything else happened.

Again, I'm hoping for a better Sunday tomorrow!

Jaxon Maxon

Since I updated on Jade, I figured I better do the same for Jax-so here goes
-Jaxon is Wild. He is busy. Very, Very busy. He does not stop unless he is asleep. He does no sit down for longer than 30 seconds to do anything: play with a toy-watch a show- nothing. I'm not exaggerating that at all. He is constantly on the go and usually finding trouble wherever he can find it.
- He is talking a lot. He has starting saying small sentences. "I dropped it" "Where's JJ" "Where it go?" He can say anything and everything. Just tonight I was putting clothes away and I heard him saying "I hide, I hide" I turned around and he was laughing with a blanket over his head. I love hearing him talk. It's so cute to listen to him
- I just mentioned that Jax talks, but it by far is not his favorite way of communicating. I would say that would be yelling, moaning, growling. It is not my favorite. It can get me to my last nerve of patience on most days. He is LOUD. He cries loud, yells loud, he is just loud. Scott had a point the other day though "Al, he does it because it is effective" He has a point. For a few months now he will take things that are Jade's. She will try to take them back from him and he will yell....loudly. Because I hate that noise I will tell Jadyn to just give him whatever he wants so he will quit yelling. I have had to be careful lately though because Jaxon has learned if he screams 99.9% of the time I would give him whatever just to make the noise stop. I have had to change this and I am now working on just ignoring him when he screams. If he has something of Jadyn's and is yelling I calmly tell him Jadyn had it first and ignore the screaming.

- He is a bit of a bully. In nursery he is the toy taker. His teachers are good to notice and take it back from him and tell him "so and so had it first". He usually is fine with it and moves on to the next toy. Ugh. He hits. He throws tantrums. He give mean, mean, looks. We were at a playground a few weeks ago and we look over and Jax is pointing his finger in some little kids face giving him the meanest look. The kid was trying to play with the same thing Jax was playing with. So he may only be 20 months, but he has had his share of time outs!

- That said, he is quick to say "Horry" (sorry) when his time out is done. He gets concerned when other kids are crying and always say "They cyin" (crying). He wants to go and give them loves right away.

- He is very mischievious. He knows when he is doing something he shouldn't. He'll look at you when he is doing something wrong and if you start walking toward him, he runs the other way!

- He still loves his sister and looks for her every. single. morning when he wakes up.

- He is giving real kisses rather than just lean his head toward the person wanting one.

- He is a good sleeper. He usually sleeps from about 7:30-8:00 and takes a good 2-3 hour nap every day. That said, he is getting smarter. The last 2 weeks he has started to be fussy when we put him to bed-like he knows there are better things to do. But overall, he is pretty good.

- He loves markers. Sometimes I wonder if he loves them just because he does or if he loves them because he knows he is not suppose to have them

- He loves to be outside. Good weather is going to be my saving grace. Being able to send him out to play is going to be fantastic! I can't wait

- He has never cried when I have left him at daycare. He wiggles out of my hands and finds his way upstairs before I can even say goodbye.

- He still loves peas. He will eat them like candy. I had some in my diaper bag tonight. They had been out of the fridge since lunch and he couldn't get enough of them

- He loves "teats" (treats)

Jaxon has introduced me to a whole new world of Motherhood: Boys. I will say that I was not prepared. I was used to a calm little girl. Everyone has always said how wild little boys are, but I just had no idea. That said, I wouldn't trade him for anything. He keeps me on my toes and I love him to death!

Jungle Jim's

Last Friday I decided that since Scott was going to a basketball game, I was going to take the kids to go and do something fun. I gave Jade a few options and she happily chose Jungle Jim's. Cheryl and her family decided to meet us there as well. We ate at Kneaders and then headed over to Jungle Jim's. Both of the kids had so much fun and we ended up playing for over 2 hours. It was a fun night and I love seeing my kids doing something they both enjoy!

Motherhood: A choice and a joy-understanding friends is a bonus

I came across an article on a blog today:

I read it and I agreed. Being a mom is a choice, and it is a joy. That said, it keeps me busy. All day long. ALL DAY LONG. People ask why I stay up so late and night. Though I have always stayed up late, I now REALLY enjoy staying up late because it is quiet and I can do whatever I want without 30 interruptions a minute. The lady who wrote in can't be faulted too much. You can't understand the busyness of being a mom until you are one. I understand when you get 5 min to yourself you want just that-5 min to yourself.
On the other hand......I went to dinner tonight with 3 friends from highschool. We met for dinner at 7:00 and left at 10:05- 5 min after the restaurant closed. We had such a good time catching up and reminiscing about the old days. We are all turning 30 this year! None of us can believe we will actually be 30- we definitely don't feel 30! I realized something on the way home. Being a mom is Busy, very busy, but in contact with friends is important to me. Sometimes I think being a mom/wife can take so much time that I forget to put effort in to my friendships. I love my friends and know there are times that I neglect my friendships. The difference between my friends and the women that wrote in is that I have friends that understand when the busyness of motherhood happens. I am grateful for that. I am grateful for the friends that I can call after 2 or 3 weeks and we can pick up where we left off. I am grateful for the friends I talk to almost daily who are patient with me even on my bad days. I hope all my friends know that I would do anything for them. Girls nights Out help me immensely. It is nice to get out and have a break from mom life and talk for hours about any and all things.
Being a Mom is a choice and a joy. Having friends to enjoy that with along the way is priceless.

Happy Birthday Scott!

Happy 31st Bday Scott! I think he had a fun day. The kids and I took Scott lunch and ate with him. We also brought him his present that Jade picked out from the Dollar Store. She loves when we take her there to buy our presents. She put a little thought into what Dad might have wanted and a lot of thought into what she wants. She then picks all of that out and it ends up being a win-win situation for her.
We dropped the kids off to my sister (Thanks again Meg) and went to dinner at The Melting Pot. We met Scott's sister and Lewis there too. We had a lot of fun. The food there is good, but I'm not sure it was quite worth the $95 price tag! I'm sure we'll go back sometime!
Anyway, Happy birthday babe! I hope it was a good one! I love you!

This is Jade holding the birthday card she picked for Scott. It is covered in fireworks and says "Happy 70th Birthday!" I tried to tell her that maybe it would be best to choose a different one-to which she replied "Mom....everyone loves fireworks!" Alrighty then.

Valentine's day

We had a great Valentine's Day. Scott and I have never really gone and done something by ourselves on Valentine's since we always go out for his birthday a few days later. I wanted to do something fun this year though, since it was on the weekend. I decided to invite some friends from our old Neighborhood to come over for dinner and to just hang out. We had a really good time. It was nice to get to sit and talk with everyone. The kids all had a fun time playing. Jade was in heaven since she loves having friends over. I put Jax to bed ad 7:00 and he went right to bed. It was great! Thanks Amy, Britt, and Jen for coming over!

Just hangin out!

Britt's new baby. He is so cute!
I went downstairs and they were all just chillin watching a show
Yeah...this pic cracks me up. She is such a poser!

My Cute Jade

I used to do kid updates a lot, but haven't done them for awhile. I took a bunch of pics of them the other day in the car while we were waiting for Scott so I decided instead of just posting them, I'd do a little update-mostly for my journal
Miss Jadyn

- The girl still has so much personality. She is so dramatic in everything she does. Happy, mad, sad, excited, whatever it is-it will be done with a dramatic flair! I love her to pieces. She keeps me laughing.
- She is still such a momma's girl and insists that she gets a "hold" everyday. I can never pass up her requests.
- She is smart. She can write all her letters and is at the stage where she loves to write out words. She does her best to sound them out and asks for help when she gets stuck.
- She remembers everything. Just today she said "Mom, when you have a new baby (no, I'm not pregnant) Jax and I will come visit you and sit on your bed just like I did when you have Jax. Will you take your own blanket again? Remember how you took your own red blanket when you had Jax?" She's right, I took my own blanket but I have no idea how she remembered that. It was almost 2 years ago and she was only 2!
- She is very outgoing and gains friends everywhere she goes
- She is in love with her old Sunbeam teacher (Brittan). Today Brittan was subbing the sunbeam class and where did Jade end up when it was time to leave sharing time? Britttan's class. I did have to have a little chat with her about needing to go to her own class, but I think it's cute that she loves Brittan so much and I'm grateful for Britton for being so nice to Jade.
- She doesn't sleep in her own bed, but will of course do so when she goes to school.
- She is very excited to start preschool in the fall and asks everyday when she will get to start. That said, she is not going to Kindergarten if it means getting more shots.
- She loves all types of shows that I don't, but her dad does: Star Wars, pirates, sponge bob, ect. Scott loves this about her.
- She is convinced that if Scott ever shoots a deer, the deer head should be mounted on her wall. Scott loves this about her even more. (unfortunately for him-and her-that will not ever happen). - She loves her brother and can make him laugh more than anyone else....she can also make him scream more than anyone else.
- She likes to be boss....of anyone who will allow it.
- She can be sweeter than any other child when she wants to be. She often requests to be snuggled in the middle of the night.
- If I ever go out at night with friends, to the gym or to a church function, I can always count on a "MOMMY!!! You are Home! I missed you soooooo much" the second I walk in the door. A few weeks ago she was asleep when I got home. I went upstairs to give her a kiss and she woke up and sleepily said "Ahhhh mommy, there you are" gave me a love and went back to sleep.
- She was caught the other day saying "Oh my God" She had said it once the day before and we just ignored it thinking that if we brought attention to it, it would be worse. But...after hearing it twice I addressed it. I explained to her why we don't say that and then said "Where did you hear that from" She looked over at Scott, pointed to him and said "Daddy." She was dead serious. Scott started laughing and said "I have NEVER said that" to which Jade replied "Dad, don't lie" I then said "Maybe you have heard it on t.v.?" and she said "Yeah, probably"
- She is very adamant that she is not planning on marrying and having kids because she wants to live with me forever. Ooookkkk. She also really wants a pet-which we don't and won't have at our house. The other day I told her that when she gets big and gets married, THEN she can have a pet. She thought about it for awhile and then said "Ok, I will have a husband and then I can have a pet. But....I am still living with you!" She's funny. When she is 16 and yelling that she doesn't like me and can't wait till she can move out, I'll have to remind her of her younger years when her plan was to get married and still live with me. I'm fine with it. I can guarantee you that when the time comes that she does move out, I will be very sad.
- Her favorite colors are blue, purple and pink
- She is beginning to like to choose her own clothes. Most of the time I can help her by chossing out of two outfits I picked, but sometimes she chooses all on her own. It's not always a great match, but whatever. She loves picking her socks as well. This has led to me deciding I need to be a little more careful of the socks I buy! And Hey- doesn't everone know that blue socks and a pink shirt look great together
- When I do something that she really likes she will say "Mom....you are a genious"
- She can have HUGE meltdowns if I do her hair and she decides it's ugly.
- If I had to describe her in 3 words it would be: Dramatic, Funny, and sweet.

I love ya Jade you are definitely a keeper!

Dangerous?!?!

This doesn't look Dangerous at all right? I was on the computer and Jaxon was really quiet, which only means he has found something he shouldn't. When I checked him and found him on the stove I was pretty shocked! I mean I understand using the oven for a stool but what happens when it's on or there is something on the burners? Yeah....guess we'll be keeping a close eye on that!

Daddy Daughter Date

I was going through some mail the other day and ran across a flier for a South Jordan Daddy Daughter Date. I tossed the paper to Scott and said "Hey.....maybe you should take Jade." NOt really thinking that he would. He liked the idea though and actually called me from work a few days later and said he was on the web site and was going to sign up. This was two weeks before the acutal date. Jade was so excited about going to "the ball". She knew the exact dress she was going to wear and was counting down the days. When the day came she wanted to get ready for the date as soon as she woke up! It was so fun to see how happy she was to be going!

Scott said the Dance was pretty fun. They had dinner and danced the night away. There was supposed to be a craft but they pretty much just gave it to them in a bag and they were supposed to put it together on their own. My brother and his girls went to the dance as well which Jade liked. Scott and Jade stopped on the way home to get some ice cream. Jade was so excited to tell me all about the dance. They did the chicken Dance, the YMCA, the Boot Scootin Boogie, the monster dance (Thriller) and much more. It sounded pretty awesome! Scott was a little bummed at the fact that Jade decided to sit by Brittan at the dance rather than by her "date" but she really had fun going with him. I'm glad they were able to spend some one on one time together.
Jade and daddy before they left
Jade's corsage
Jade and Em I would guess doing the YMCA

Funny kid

If we leave things out, Jax will find them. Scott left some chocolate on the floor. I didn't know it was there. After nap time he came down to play. Minutes later I looked at him and thought "What in the world is on your face.....and in your hands?!?!" He was so happy about it and who knows how much he had eaten before I got to him! He's so funny!

Dear Jaxon

The couch? Well it's also not a coloring page. I understand you may thing the green pen adds to the tan couch, but again....let's try to keep it on paper next time! Good thing I don't love the couch. Love, Mom

Baby Brinkely

My brother and his wife had a sweet little girl the beginning of Jan. We needed a new baby in the family since Jax was the youngest. Everyone has loved having her to hold-my kids included. Jadyn thinks she is so cute and even said the other day that she wanted to live with Brinkley. I told her "Ok, I'll pack your bags and send you to them!" She was quick to say that she meant she wanted Brinkley to live here. Right.....seeing that she is the greatest baby and sleeps through the night, I think her parents will keep her. Jax also loves her-too much maybe? He gets so excited to see her and "plays" a little too rough. We have to be very careful when he is around her. He just laughs and says "baby" every time he sees her. I asked if he wanted to hold her and he put his arms around her and pulled, like he wanted to walk around with her. Um-no. He was so sweet to hold her though and give her loves.
Welcome to the family Brinkley! We love you!

Seth gets baptized

My cute nephew, Seth, was baptized on Saturday. It was so fun to get to be there with him. Jade loves Seth so much and thought it was so cool to be able to see him get baptized. Seth is such a good kid. He is very nice and patient with both of my kids. Congratulations Seth! We are so proud of you!

The dippers..... gross!

My kids are both HUGE dippers. They love to dip all food: waffles, chicken nuggets, pizza, bread, you get the idea. The other night at dinner the requested dip for their pizza was ketchup. That is so gross to me, but both kids had multiple servings of ketchup. They didn't just dip the pizza. In this picture Jade is dipping her green beans in ketchup and in the back Jax is eating a cookie that he had just dipped in ketchup. Yummy!

My kids are not fruit eaters. They love their veggies, but 99% of the time will only eat apples and grapes and sometimes an occasional orange. The other night Jax had grabbed a very OLD banana and brought it to me. I am ok with the old banana's because I use them in my protein shakes, but I would never eat it plain! I kept telling Jax "cucks" (a very well known word in our house meaning yucky) but he was insistent he wanted to eat it. He had already squished it open in the middle. I was tired of just saying no and figured "Fine, you want to eat it, go ahead" MUCH to my surpise he liked it and kept coming back for more! Now that, is definitely "cucks!" I love this pic though.....look at his blue eyes!
