Thanksgiving

I may have held Haddie up to the bears face to see what she thought. Obivously, she didn't like it.

We had a great Thanksgiving. I spent Tuesday doing a lot of "prep work" for the holiday. We had the carpets cleaned and cleaned most of the We took the kids to the mall and scheels later that night so the carpets could finish drying. At 10:15 I decided I should go grocery shopping so we didn't have to do it later. Scott finished cleaning the kitchen while I was gone which was great. I got home around 11:30 and although it was late it was nice to have it all done!
Scott had the day off on Wednesday and I had to work. He and Jax got haircuts and then hung out the rest of the day. We grabbed dinner at Cafe Rio, Jax fell asleep at 6:00 and after Hads went to sleep Jade, Scott and I watched Elf and amazingly enough the house was all asleep by 10:15. HEAVENLY!!!!
I ran with Sarah Thanksgiving morning at 7:00. It was a great run, nice and cool, and awesome to get it in before we went over to my Dad's for breakfast! My dad is so great to continue on with this tradition and I am lucky to be able to spend so much time with my family. We decided at breakfast that we were going to go see "Wreck it Ralph" with Lyssa and the boys. Scott and Jax had already seen it so Scott stayed home so we could put Hads to sleep (which she Needed! She was quite the grump at my dad's. She didn't want anyone to hold her but me and even then was fussy!). The show was sooo cute! I loved it and the kids were both super in the show. We got home and the kids hung out and watched Grinch while I cooked. Scott was able to go golf 9 holes which he thought was awesome and I am sure will try to make that a tradition! :) We headed over to Meg's about 4:00. Food and family were great. Jax had so much fun playing that he didn't eat one bite of food while we were there. I learned long ago that I don't fight him to come and eat. He will eat when he is hungry and it's fine by me if he is happily playing! I played kinect with the kids and after I started sweating playing wipe out decided I was done! Had's was grumpy again and made it clear that she was ready to  by about 7:30. We read and prayed with the kids and they were all down in bed about 8:30. Fantastic day! I have so much to be grateful for and I love having a holiday that is 100% spent with family and is not overshadowed by so many other things!

Friday I slept in, put Christmas up and just hung out. Jax and Jade played with Olivia and Conner all day and had a great time! It was nice to just spend the whole day at home and amazingly enough I skipped black Friday shopping entirely! First time in forever and it was actually a nice and welcoming change!
Saturday was another day of just hanging out. Jade played at Saharas all day. It was nice enough outside that we even went over to the park for a little while. I did take the kids to get Elf on the Shelf-which they are so excited to start and pick out their ornaments. Mike and Brandee came over for a bit in the evening.
Sunday was another day of just hanging out...I know..4 in a row. It was great. Church was church. Although it was my turn off from nursery I decided that takin Hads to class is not so fun. I loved getting to hear a Relief Society lesson though.
I am so glad we were able to just hang out so much as a family the last 5 days. It has been wonderful!

Pedal or Steer?

The beginning of September I decided it was time for Jax to learn to ride his bike. We had tried a few times before but he was not ready. He said he didn't want to go to fast but learning to ride a bike slow just doesn't work. I started helping him and we were using his tiny bike...that's how we taught Jade...but I could tell he was just way to big. So I decided to make him try Jadyn's bike. Yep....the princess bike. It took me a few tries, holding on to his shirt, but he finally started figuring it out. He was riding his bike....kind of. He couldn't stop so he would just stop pedaling and shoot for grass and jump off. He also coudn't pedal and stear straight. I mean he wouldn't pedal and look up to see where he was going. I swear I was going to have an anxiety attack watching him swerve back and forth and having to run after him to make sure he didn't crash. WHEW! But....he was so proud of him and so was I...and Jade and Scott when we showed them later.
He wasn't into it at first. He would practice once a twice a week and that was it. About a month ago my friend Melissa brought me her son's old bike. Jax loves it! It is a racecar bike so when he pulls back the handle it makes a reving noise. He started going out almost everyday to ride his bike and he is getting better. I still have a hard time watching. He gets so easily distracted. I watched him totally tbone a parked car (made scott walk down and make sure it was ok) and just the other day he said "Mom, if a car almost hits me I just turn like this to the side" Eek!!! Yes, I am very insistent on the helmet. I am happy that he likes to ride his bike. Now I just cross my fingers that he will be safe!

Nothing wrong with riding in your pj's!

Another cabin visit!

Another great trip up to the cabin. It may have taken us 4 hours to get there (too many stops and forgotten items) but we loved being able to spend two night. The kids played with Em and Isaac. I brought up a melted bead craft and Susie had shirt iron on's and cookies to decorate for the kids. She is so great to provide them with lots of fun things to do. All my kids love their 2 little dogs, Jade and Jezebelle. I think Hadley liked them the most. She spent much of the two days "barking" at them and followed them around everywhere. They were not loving her as much but were very tolerant of her! The kids were able to do the zipline on Saturday and Sunday so they were very happy with that.
I am grateful for the time we had to spend as a family without the regular weekend things that have to be done! With the holidays coming up and then baseball starting after that, I think it may be awhile before we get there again and I know the kids will miss it!

Jax and Isaac loved this rope hook they made!
 A few played risk
Jade got her head stuck in the railing. That will teach her I guess.
 Cute kids outside!
The drama queens with the shirts they did. They love each other one minute and can be fighting the next.
The headless Jax doing the zipline. This pic makes me laugh
Where Haddie spent 1/2 her time so I could try to keep her contained.

Where Haddie spent the other 1/2 of her time....following the dogs around

Birthday lunch

After Jade's baptism we had a lunch at the clubhouse to celebrate her baptism/birthday and Had's first Bday. Again, a huge thank you to everyone that came. After the party was over and we had unloaded the car I told Scott that events like that remind me how blessed I am because we have so many people in our lives who and love and support us. I really really appreciate and love everyone who came! I was able to catch more people for pictures here than I did at the church.

Olivia (Jade's best friend at school. These two are hilarious together) and her mom and brother. Her dad and little brother came too
Scott dad, Belva, Ryan, Jess, Coby, gma Bev and Weston. We missed Gracie in the picture!
Our Neighbors and great friends, the Nuttall's. We were destined to be neighbors. One day I should make a post on just how many connections we have with them. It's crazy!
My Friend Melissa and her kids. Maybe Jade and Olivia will be friends for as long as Melissa and I have been!
 Jade and Zach
Meg and her family. Jade sure does love those boys! My oldest BRother Jake came with his girls and Sahara but had a wedding they were in that they had to hurry off to. My brother Jon was flying and Josh....um....he was fighting fires.
 My Grandma and Dave
 The Cakes
 Miss Haddie diggin in

And then a quick sink bath was much needed!

Happy to open some presents!
She was so exhausted by the time we got home! How she sleeps like this I will never know! I did lay her down after this picture!
My Fav pic of hads that day. She just looks so darn happy!

Jaxon update.

It's been a long time since I have done an update on my Jax man. I have been keeping a list of funny hings he says/does and it has gotten WAY too long and I realized it's time to get this post written up.
The kid is definitely very funny. I laugh at him daily. He loves to make people laugh. He enjoys preschool but he still asks every morning "What day is it" and is always the most happy when I tell him its a "stay home" day. If I happen to tell him it's "church" day there is usually a small meltdown. I try to warn him Saturday night before he goes to bed so that he isn't too shocked in the morning. He can be so sweet and loving and I love when he tells me how much he loves me. It makes me very happy.
We are still struggling with his energy level, low patience and high frustration. I have been thinking about him and these issues a lot lately. I feel like his brain in on overload and wheels spinning constantly. If he is doing something he isn't supposed to and I try to talk to him about it it's hard to even get him to listen because his mind is already well past the issue and on to something else. I have talked to his preschool teacher and she said that his energy or "go, go, go" level is definitely much higher than other kids. She said he is obedient in doing his work but will do it as fast as he can so that he can get to the next activity. MOST of the time I don't feel like he tries to be naughty, he just is constantly in high gear. I have been thinking a lot about it this past week and talking with other parents and such to just see what we can do to help him and the situation. I feel like he would feel better if he could just slow down a little and give his brain a little rest. We are just starting to look into it though. I just want to help him be successful in school. I have seen the boys that struggle in Jade's classes and I don't want that for Jax. I am hoping we can help his as much as possible before he starts school next year.
Anyway, I love him to pieces. I love spending time with him each day. He can be so so sweet and I am so grateful we have him even if he does keep me on my toes!

"Join the awsomeness": Brandee ran errands with us one night and when she got out of the car I said "Thanks for joining the fun!" and Jax immediately said "Yeah....Join the awsomeness!"

Date to costa vida: Before Scott went hunting he had a lot of things he needed to do. Jadyn had a party she went to so I took Jax on a little date (Hads was with us too). We went to Costa Vida. The line was SUPER long but Jax wanted to wait and was so good in line! When we got our food we say down at the table and Jax moved his chair over to sit right next to me. He loved being on a date!

"Are we driving or walking": Jax had a field trip to the pumpkin patch. One day on the way to school he asked if we were driving or walking on his field trip. I told him that we were driving but that all the moms were going and he said " Oh good.....We Don't have room for all my classmates" It made me laugh

"That's adorable": This phrase just cracks me up when he says it

Put him self in timeout at school: One day when I went to pick Jax up his teacher stopped me and told me that they were playing and she didn't see him so she asked where Jax was and then found him in the corner. She asked what he was doing. He told her he had taken someones toy (I think it was that) and so he just put himself in time out! I had to laugh at that one. Glad he realized he made a bad choice! ;)

"I want to be a washer": One day he found some window cleaner and decided to start washing things. While he was on his second or third window he said "Mom, I want to be a washer when I am big!" It was funny and let me tell ya, he spent quite a bit of time washing that day!

Deer:  The day after Scott got home from hunting Jax and I were alone in the care and we had this conversations: "I wish we had all boys in the family so we could keep the deer. Well I wish Sonic was in our family so he could cut the wood so fast you couldn't see him. If sonic was in our family it would be like Peso's (Octonauts show)family. Ya know....he has a lot of people in his family" Then the day after that, as we were driving alone again he said "I wish that Heavenly father would bring that deer back to life. It's so sad. Pinkie promise you never go hunting. You will not be safe. You don't know how to do the trigger" Whew...that hunting trip led to lots of thinking on his part!

King shirt: A few months ago we were hanging around after church and Jax wanted me to undo his shirt. Instead of changing he held it open and laughed and said "I'm a KING!!!" and started running around. I had no idea where he got the idea from but it was funny. Well, it has stuck and he LOVES to wear his king shirts. I think he would wear one everyday if I let him. It's quite hilarious!

Cory's baby: We were at my dad's house and one of my brother's friends stopped by with his kids. He had a two week old little boy and I held him for awhile. Jax came over by me and loved on the baby and said how cute he was and that he was so little! He was so cute with the baby. A few weeks later, while in the car (seems he does a lot of his thinking there) he said "Mom, remember that boy baby at grandpas house? I want one of those!" He would love a brother...poor kid isn't getting one!

Bath time: For some reason Jax always whines when I tell him it's bath time. He never wants to get in yet loves it once he is in there. Anyway, I told him that he needed to have a bath and he responded with "I took a bath last year. Of course I am good!"

Church: Like I said, church is not his favorite place to go. Jadyn and I were talking about church and Jadyn said her favorite thing about church was music time in primary. Jax was in his room and I hear him yelld down the hall "You wanna know my favorite part of church? The part where it's almost time to go home!!!!" I seriously laughed for a long time over that one!

"Haddie you are growin up.": We were walking out to the car one morning and Jax says " Haddie you are growin up! You're walkin and you're talkin." For some reason he just sounds so grown up when he said it

"Eeny meeny" and Secrets: Jax has a thing for packages in the mail. Well actually he just loves all mail and wants any garbage from the mail that I might throw away. But....he especially loves packages. Well a week ago there was a package on the porch....for Jade. I grabbed it and took it inside and then headed back out to the car. Jax started in on the package-wanting to know what it was, wanting to open it, wanting to just look at it. I told him no and that it was a Christmas present for Dad. Scott was sitting next to me in the car and Jax came up front and said "Just tell me what it is." I told him no because he would tell dad! He insisted there was NO way he would. So I made something up and whispered it into his ear. Scott started in right away with "Jax, just tell me. I am your favorite right? You should tell me!" We were having fun with him so I told him he absolutely could not tell. It was a secret. So Jax decides to break out "eeny meeny" to decide if he should tell or not. His eeny meeny went like this "eeny meeny miny mo, catch a tiger by the toe. If he hollars let him go my mom picked the bery best goodest and baddest one and it will not be you!" he pointed at me and said "Ok Dad, you win. It's a Razor!!!!" and just like that our fake secret was out! Good thing I already knew he isn't a very good secret keeper! We made him repeat the eeny meeny though because it was so darn funny!

Why he doesn't listen very well: I asked Jax while he wasn't listening very well lately to which he responded "My brain is crazy because I don't have an umbrella and it gets cold when it rains". Hmmm...well now I understand! ;)

Movie quotes: Jax picks up on a lot of lines in movies and then will use them throughout the day. The other day I realized that I sent Jade to school without breakfast (I had asked he several times to go down and eat). When I realized it I said outloud "Shoot!" Jax asked what was wrong and I said "I forgot to make sure Jade had breakfast" and Jax said "Well that's a major bummer!"

Ok, that is enough. The kid cracks me up! He is wild and crazy and overly hyper but he is so darn funny and I love that he still randomly says he loves me throughout the day and gives me loves. I love that he asks Hadley for "smooches" and wants to hold her (which she does not like). Love ya bud!

Jade's Baptism

Jadyn has been so excited to get baptized. I think we started talking about the dress and the way she wanted her hair (which she wanted curly....right after she was baptized. Yeah...wasn't going to happen) at her baptism a year ago! It was so fun to help her prepare for the big day-Having a special baptism FHE and meeting with the bishop. I am so grateful for the many wonderful examples in her life that have helped he make this decision: family members, primary teachers, friends. She is blessed with some great people in her life who love her very much. We had so many people who came to support her and helped make her day even more special! I love ya Jade and Dad and I are so proud of you!
We were able to get a few pics before the baptism but didn't catch everyone for pictures.
