Principal Pride

Jadyn was chosen for Principal Pride for her class in Jan. She won her award for her "I have a dream" paper, her handwriting, paragraph writing and spelling. She was so excited about it. Jade is an excellent student in school and we are so proud of her!

Here is here "I have a dream" paper-(the way it appeared on the paper).

15 months

My oh my how time just keeps tickin and my baby keeps growing. I may have said sometime (lots of times) that 12-18 months is a hard age for me. They are too young to want to actually sit and play for very long or watch a show and old enough to know there is much to discover and places to be. This has been my feelings with Jade and Jax and it seems to be the same with Miss Haddie.

Updates:
- 10 teeth

-  If she wants something she will stick her arm out in the direction she wants you to go and then rubs her fingers together

- She doesn't really walk yet. She can stand up on her own and will take 3 or 4 steps from someone to me (the only way she will walk) but not really walking. She could if she wanted to, she has enough balance but she is taking her own sweet time.

- She still loves to be held and 90% of the time would much rather be held or sitting in someones lap then down on the floor playing.

- She still doesn't really play with toys. The one place she LOVES to go to is Jaxon's room. I don't know if it's because she likes it or if she knows she isn't supposed to be in there! ;) If she has long enough she will go for the Lego's and play with the computer mouse. She does love her little tiny baby and is so sweet with it. She will pat her back and hold her out for others to give the baby kisses.

- Besides the past few weeks, she is a pretty great sleeper and still sleeps about 12 hours a night and a 2 or 3 hour nap. Most of the time she goes down without a problem and will yell or cry when she is awake. When I go in to get her she has thrown out all her binkies and stuffed animals as if she is telling us she is ready to get out! Then she usually wants to try to hold all her binkies, dog and Racoon and take them out....which I usually end up having her throw them back in! I love that she is a great sleeper (now if we can just get her healthy and back to sleeping well)

- She still isn't talking. I can ask her questions like "Where is Jaxon?" and she will look right at him. Or "Haddie get your nose" and she will point at her nose. So she definitely knows our names and understands us but, like walking, she is just taking her own sweet time!

- She loves her Roller Coaster she got for Christmas and if she sees the car sitting at the top she will ALWAYS go over and push it down so that ir crashes in to the cupboard. It's awesome

- Hmmm...should I say this outloud (knocking on wood)..."the scream" seems to be getting better. I don't hear it as often....again that could totally be because she has been sick 4 out of the past 6 weeks but I am hoping it is on it's way out!

- At the Dr office she weighed in at 21 lbs 10 oz. I am not sure where that puts her since we didn't actually do a well child check.

Gotta make sure she has at least 3 with her!
 Lovin her doggie
She does this when she doesn't want people to talk to her
She is obsessed with throwing things down the stairs! She was in heaven this day when we took a bucket of bouncy balls to the top to let her throw them down. She had lots of help from Jade and Jax

The night before I went to Arizona I needed to clean the house. I set Hads up with some food and she was happy...for about 10 min
and then she was VERY upset that I wouldn't hold her. Tears and tears until I finally got her out-even though we were in the same room together!

Girls Trip!!!!

Tracy, Melissa and I have all been friends since we were 12-which is so crazy because it seems like just yesterday! We have been through a lot in the past 21 years but we have always supported and loved each other. 2 years ago Tracy moved to Arizona. I have only seen her twice, for about 2 hour, since she left. I miss her lots. So....a few months Melissa and I decided it was time to take a little girls trip. I will admit I was a little nervous leaving all the kids home with Scott but also will admit that as soon as I got in the car to leave I was pretty excited about getting some time away!

The trip was so  much fun! Leaving the cold and going to warm weather was sooo awesome! I think I need to plan something like this every January! We stayed 2 nights at Tracy's and a night at a hotel. We talked, shopped and ate at lots of yummy restaurants (something that is pretty foreign to me right now seeing that going out with 3 kids is anything but fun)! It was so great getting to do whatever we wanted and not having to worry about schedules and other mom responsibilities! We laughed, enjoyed taking lots of pictures (cough...well some of us enjoyed that. Others may have not been happy about that AT ALL), laughed, made trips down the hotel front desk at midnight for the cinnamon roll and drinks and had fun talking with Tracy's boys-including Josh who kept us laughing for hours each night! Ah...great memories!

I am so grateful I was able to go and have a little "break". The best news is that by the time I got home I was also so excited to see my kids and Scott again and realized that they are definitely the most important people in the world to me. Although I loved this girls weekend it was a good reminder that I will always feel the most comfortable and the most loved when I am with my husband and 3 kids. And hey....I think a yearly girls trip to remember this is a fantastic idea! ;)

Now on to the pictures....I took a ton but can only post "approved" pictures from all 3 of us. ;) Love you girls!

Leaving the smog behind. Yay!

 On our way!
Acting 12: taking kissy face pictures in the car! ;)

Hanging out at the hotel
 We are weird....

Sick, Sick, Sick

January is not my favorite month but add in an awful bout of sickness with record low temperatures and record amounts of snow and I am definitely not sad to turn the calendar page! The beginning of the month Hads got sick. I figured it was strep so Scott took her to instacare...and waited 2 hours...for them to tell us she had a cold. Awesome. 2 days later, on Tuesday, she was still not feeling well. Instacare called in the morning though and said that her culture had come back positive (not really surprised) so we started her on some antibiotics. Tuesday night both Jax and I were feeling crappy. I called the dr Wed morning to get Jax in, thinking we both probably had strep as well. Hads was still not feeling well so I scheduled for her to be seen by a normal dr (I am not a fan of instacare). Jaxon's strep came back negative. The Dr. thought Hads should be feeling better already with her meds so we decided to test her for RSV and Influenza as well. We were surprised when her influenza came back positive. The dr said that symptoms for strep and influenza are so close (except influenza adds a cough, which everyone had) so she was sure that Jax had it too. Unfortunately for Hads she had symptoms for too long that she couldn't get on tamiflu (which is a medicine that will shorten the flu by about 3 or 4 days which is huge when you feel so awful for so long. Well worth the $100 it cost me per prescription.) By the time we left the dr office I felt like I had been ran over by a truck so I was 100% positive I had it as well. I went to the instacare that night and was able to be in and out in 40 min (awesome!) and was also confirmed I had it as well! I decided that I would do whatever I could to avoid getting Scott and Jade sick. The only way to do that was to keep us isolated. So....for the next 3 days Jax, hads and I pretty much holed ourselves up in my room. It wasn't fun...at all....but we all survived and did not pass it on to the others! Jax definitely felt better first, then myself, and Hads definitely was sick the longest-proof that tamiflu works since she had it first and last.
no fun to be sick!
Rubbing Jaxon's head when he didn't feel good
Hadley felt better for about 2 weeks and then just this week managed to get sick again. I took her in on Monday and the strep test came back positive. That being said, I am not 100% that that is what the problem is. Both her dr and I are starting to think she might be a strep carrier meaning that  even if she was healthy she would test positive. We were supposed to check this out tomorrow at her 15 month appointment when she was healthy, but will now have to wait until she actually is healthy. It is possible she is just getting really bad colds but I am just not sure. She has been on antibiotics for 48 hours now and yet she seems to be worse than she was on Monday. She cried all the way to and from dance tonight and I couldn't figure out why she was so fussy..until I got home and took her temperature: 104.5. Yeah...that would probably make all of us fussy! It just seems like she should be feeling better by now. Not sure if she has influenza again or what. We will talk to her dr about it again tomorrow. If she isn't actually a strep carrier we will go see an ENT to see if she might need her tonsils out.
Update: When I took little Hads into the dr on for her well check (02/07) they wouldn't do it because she was sick...so we did a sick visit. Hadley has learned to HATE the dr office. She can be totally fine and as soon as someone tries to start listening to hear breathe she goes crazy....which then makes it impossible for them to hear her! This was the case this day. We tried a binkie, giving her a break and even a sucker (which she took but WOULD NOT suck it!) Little stink. Anyway, Hads just wasn't getting better and was still having massive fevers, not sleeping and an awful cough. The Dr listened to her and heard her cough and said she was 99% sure it was RSV. She asked if I wanted her tested (stick LONG stick up her nose). I asked her if there was a treatment and she basically said No....just time. I decided that since Hads was still hysterically crying that there was no reason to make things worse. So we bundled her up and took her home. She was miserable, gross and sick with fevers for about 3 more days. Sunday (so a week after her fevers started) she finally woke up from her nap with no fever. Unfortunately she still was VERY whiny, fussy, clingy, runny nose and AWFUL Cough. The cough is so sad and she gags so hard. It makes me so sad for her. Saturday I was out with Cheryl and she told me about the Little Remedies cough syrup which I went and got and it is by far the best thing I have ever used for a kids cough. Jadyn and Jax both caught the cough by Sunday and we have been through 2 whole bottles of medicine in 5 days. It works though and I am so glad I found it! We also started using some Doterra oils on Saturday night and I think those have also helped.
Because Hads is still sick we are going on her second whole week home from daycare. It's been hard. We will keep her home the rest of this and then Monday and Tuesday next week and I am crossing all crossables that she will be ready to go back to daycare next Wednesday!
Needless these first 6 weeks of the year have not been fun for Miss Hadley and I am hoping she will get on the path to being healthy REALLY soon! I will say that if there is one positive thing when she is sick is that we get lots of extra snuggles!

Night time routine of lotions, meds and oils. Whew!
update 03/04: Sick again. Hads woke up on Thurs night on fire. Temp was 103.5. She was ok Friday morning so I sent her to daycare and ok until Sat afternoon when the fever, cough and runny noise came on. Not exactly sure what to think. We did a strep test last week and it came back negative-so not a carrier. Hoping she gets better in the next 2 days or I guess we'll go back to the Dr. I added up our medical bills since Jan 1st and we are over $900 already....I need spring, warm weather and Hads to build up a stronger immune system!

Hotel stay

A few months ago I saw a hotel in our area had a great deal going on so I decided to book us a night over Christmas break. I ended up having to reschedule it a few times but we ended up going the beginning of Jan. Jade and Jax were both so excited to get to stay in a hotel! We checked in and headed straight down to the pool. They have a really great pool with a fun waterslide and a kids play area. The kids were excited that Jax was tall enough to go on the slide. At first he was not all about it and wouldn't stand in line. A little while later he changed his mind and LOVED it!
After swimming Scott took Jade and Jax to order dinner in the game room and played arcade games while they waited for their food. I took Hads upstairs to shower and get her ready for bed. When Scott got back I ran and grabbed us dinner at Costa Vida. We were all having a great time hanging out watching movies....until it was time for bed. Hads was having none of it! I had brought her pack and play but she would SCREAM the minute I put her in it...which screaming doesn't really work in a hotel with people next door. The fun of the hotel stay quickly became very unfun! Hads slept very little that night and when she did it was with me holding her on the couch which means I got even less sleep! Jade woke up at 4:00 and couldn't go back to sleep! All 5 of us were wide awake at 6:30 AM!!! Yeah. no good. We headed down to breakfast at 7:00. The breakfast they had was great! I think Jade likes it best because of the hard boiled eggs! We went swimming again after breakfast. Hads was in no mood though and just sat on my lap the entire time. She isn't a lover of water like my other two and that morning she particularly wanted nothing to do with swimming. She was super grumpy. (I thought it was probably due to lack of sleep but by the end of the day we knew she was definitely sick). After swimming the kids watched tv for awhile in the room and then we packed up and headed home! We went home and took a nap which we definitely all needed! I guess we can call it a success because Jax and Jade had a great time. For Scott and I it was a great reminder that Hads does not sleep well unless she is in her crib!

Only pictures we got were at the pool and then my camera died. I did bring Hads a swimsuit but realized after we arrived that I grabbed 2 bottoms instead of a top and a bottom. Oops!

Airbourne

My kids were so happy to be able to go to Airbourne with cousins the beginning of January. I think the place is WAY overpriced so we have only gone a few times but when we do they definitely have the best time jumping and flipping and running around!

This picture makes me think 2 things. 1- They actually look like they like each other and 2- Jason's hair was WAAAYY overdue for a haircut!
